Whether argyrophilic nucleolar organizer region (AgNOR) is a predictor of prognosis in breast cancer is controversial. The semiquantitative procedure used to calculate interphasic argyrophilic dots optically is neither reliable nor reproducible. We measured the mean area of AgNOR dots, the mean AgNO
