โฆ Synopsis
A general theory of internation behavior is proposed employing field theoretical implications. The main proposition postulates that the behavior of one country directed toward another is a linear function of similarities and differences on such attribute dimensions as power, weaIth, and political orientation. In order to span major types of interactive behavior, two operators of attribute similarities are introduced: vectors of simple difference on attributes (VSD) and vectors of absolute difference on attributes (VAD). Mathematically, the two are independent of each other. Substantively, vectors of simple difference predict asymmetric flows of international transaction, while vectors of absolute difference are related to the symmetric give-and-take between nations. The results from an experimental test are reported.
