The Road to Appomattox is the story of Confederate General Lee's retreat from Petersburg, Virginia to Appomattox Courthouse. It describes the action of the ten days from April 3rd through April 12th 1863, the long march, the battles and skirmishes along the way and finally Lee's surrender to General Grant at Appomattox. It is a short book and not meant to be the definitive work on the subject.
