John the Theologian, in exile on the island of Patmos, had a visitation of an angel who dictated to him the Apocalypse; and the blind Homer had a vision of a woman with a lira who gave him «the Iliad». Virgil came to Dante from the past and guided him through all the circles of Hell. Dante’s contemporaries treated his poetical description of Hell and Paradise seriously and without any doubt. Many ideas of the book «Rose of the World» were prompted to Daniel Andreev by Alexander Blok. The Revelation was dictated to Vladimir by an angel who visited him in the Mordvinian labor camp «Dubravlag».
