Abstract
Data obtained from measurements of internal pO~2~'s with oxygen microβelectrodes and measurements of oxygenation are used to interpret the respiratory function of Limulus hemocyanin.
In animals acclimated to 8Β°C the coelomic fluid pO~2~'s are lower than in those acclimated to 24Β°C.
Oxygen equilibrium curves of Limulus hemocyanin are shifted to the left at a lowered temperature.
The possible respiratory adaptations of Limulus to low environmental oxygen and their ecological significance are discussed.
