β¦ Synopsis
The residence time distribution of the gas passing through an agitated gas-liquid contactor of 0.6 m diameter was measured for various gas loads and agitator speeds, sires and heights. It was found that in the region where the agitation is effective (n > no) the residence time distribution closely resembles that of a perfect mixer. Consequently, in a gas absorption process where the rate of absorption of a gas component is proportional to its concentration in the gas, the driving force for the absorption has to be based on the composition of the gas leaving the dispersion.
