✦ Synopsis

In this paper we intend to treat some questions related to Carnap's system of inductive logic, in particular the derivation of some consequences of a new condition that we call invariance of the relevance quotient, and that we propose as a substitute both for the A-condition and for the principle of linearity.

The terminology and the concepts we are using are those of Carnap's works The Basic System of Inductive Logic, Part I and Part 11,1 that we now briefly summarize. is a monadic predicate language i.e. the descriptive symbols of include individual constants al, a2 ..... whose index set is D, and monadic predicates P1, P2 .....
