✦ Synopsis

The resistance to exchange of the bound metal atom of carrier-free 1~ 1in Neomycin by excess cobalt 2+ has been found to be markedly inferior to that of carrier-free 57Co Neomycin. After 1 h in the presence of excess copper more than 50% of the 1 t ~In has been removed from a bleomycin complex, whereas after 18 h less than 5% of the 57Co is removed from a similar bleomycin complex. The instability of carrier-free ~In bleomycin in the presence of copper is proposed as the first step in the pathway whereby transferrin bound 11XIn is formed when 1 ~ ZIn Neomycin is used as a radiopharmaceutical.
