My attention was first called to the unsatisfactory condition of the materia medica supply business in 1880. Having at that time introduced rectal gelatin suppository capsules and desiccated blood, and contributed papers describing them to medical and pharmaceutical journals, I was brought in contact with the so-called new remedy business.
