Abstract

Simultaneous observations of space correlations and time correlations verify that Taylor's hypothesis x = Ut is valid for intervals up to at least 90 m, and for relative intensities of turbulence at least up to 0Β·26. It is also shown that, when the stratification is stable, the longitudinal scale of turbulence tends to be much larger along the flow than across it. In an unstable layer, the scale is of the same order of magnitude in all directions.

## Abstract We show that a __CD~w~__ (__X__)‐space is isometrically Riesz isomorphic to __C__ (__W__) for some Whyburn unified space __W__ with its concrete description. We apply this to prove a Banach–Stone type theorem. This generalizes one of the main result in [2]. (Β© 2006 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH

A positivity condition is used to obtain functional relations between the time and space step-sizes for nonstandard finite-difference models of the Fisher partial differential equation. An upper bound is also derived for the solutions to the difference equations.

The relationship between hard X-ray spectra and energetic electron spectra in solar X-ray bursts is investigated, and a simplified cross-section for bremsstrahlung which is applicable to the region of mildly relativistic energies is proposed. Using the proposed crosssection, we solve an integral equ

It is shown that quantum fields over a curved space-time with a transitive group of isometriesare well-defined objects at each space-time point in the meaning of sesquilinear forms. If these quantum fields are associated with a local net of observables then they can be obtained as limits of sequence
