✦ Synopsis

The reactions of [ GeH, 1 + ions with C,H, and C,D, have been studied in a tandem mass spectrometer over a pressure range of 1-20 millitorr and over an energy range of 1-9 eV (LAB). The predominant reaction of an initial [ GeC,H, I + collision complex is back-reaction to reactants. However, stabilized adduct ions [ GeC,H, 1 + and their daughter decomposition products [ GeC,H, 1 + are observed in increasing amounts as the pressure of C,H, is increased. It is proposed that the structures of these product ions are [ CH,CH,GeH, I + and [CH,=CHGeH,] +, respectively. The hydrocarbon ions [ C,H,] + and [ C,H, 1 + are observed as products of endothermic reactions of ground electronic state [GeH,]+ ions with C,H,; these same ions along with [C,H,]+ and [C,H,]+ are observed as products of exothermic reactions of an electronically excited state of [ GeH, 1 + present in the ion beam.

## Abstract Naked and oxo‐ligated actinide (An) monopositive ions were reacted with ethylene oxide, cyclo‐C~2~H~4~O (EtO). Along with An = U, Np, Pu and Am, ions of two lanthanide (Ln) elements, Ln = Tb and Tm, were studied for comparison. Metal and metal oxide ions, M^+^, MO^+^ and MO~2~^+^, were
