β¦ Synopsis
It is a well known fact that the reaction of fly ash in concrete, only starts significantly after one or more weeks. Until this period the fly ash behaves more or less as an inert material, which only serves as a precipitation nucleus for Ca(OH) 2 and C-S-H gel originating from the cement hydration. After the initiation of the pozzolanie reaction of the fly ash, the cement paste will beeome increasingly denser. This paper gives a critical examination of the "why" of this "incubation period", it presents a model for the formation of pozzolanie reaction products and discusses the development of the pore structure.

The influence of fly ash on the basic characteristics of lightweight and ordinary concretes subject to heat treatment has been studied. The use of fly ash increases the strength of lightweight concretes, reduces cement consumption by 15 to 25%, and permits a decrease in concrete mean density (by 100
A non-reactive and several reactive aggregates were used in concrete specimens with and without two fly ashes (varying in total alkali content) at binder (cement + fly ash) alkali levels ranging from 0.46 to 2.5% and a binder content of 500 kg/m3 and fly ash/binder ratio of 0.25. The specimens were
## Abstract A comprehensive study was conducted on the reactivify and the turbostratic structure of the unburnt carbon in the CFB fly ashes. The observed deactivation of the unburnt carbon and the pyrolysis chars prepared under various conditions was studied and found to be due to the combination o
## Abstract A multiresidue supercritical fluid extraction procedure for chlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDFs) has been optimized as an efficient method for the determination of these compounds in fly ash samples. The results were compared with those obtained by Soxhlet extraction. Extracts from the two
