✦ Synopsis

Abstract

The reaction of PSCl~3~, with alkylmagnesium halides has been studied. In the case of methyl‐, ethyl‐, propyl‐, butyl‐ and __iso__butyl‐magnesium halides compounds with formula (R~2~PS)~2~, were formed. Their infrared spectra were recorded from 400 cm^βˆ’1^ to 3000 cm^βˆ’1^. From these spectra it was concluded that bi(dialkylphosphinothioyl) compounds were formed.

In most cases a number of by‐products were isolated and some of these were identified.
