Abstract
Lithium aluminium hydride in the presence of vinylmagnesium bromide (1:1 molar ratio) affords a potent reagent for the reduction of acrylic acid to allyl alcohol (ratio of allyl alcohol to 1‐propanol: 3:2). This reducing mixture has allowed the preparation of nocarrier added [1‐^11^C]allyl alcohol with a 25% yield (decay corrected at the end of radionuclide production, overall synthesis time including GC: 40 min) in a one step procedure from [^11^C]carbon dioxide (C‐11: t~1/2~:20.4 min). [1‐^11^C] 1‐propanol was obtained in parallel with a 6.5% yield.
