✦ Synopsis

There are many quarries along the coast of Γ–land where the trolls (or trullen, as my great-uncle Axel Gerlofsson called them) used to get the blame once upon a time if something broke or was stolen. On the alvar there are also elf stones from the Bronze Age where people still place coins or other gifts for the elves. Courses on how to meet elemental beings such as elves have been run in Sweden, but not, as far as I know, on Γ–land or Gotland, and the places where the quarry and the elf stone are located in The Quarry are freely invented by me, as are all the characters and companies in the novel.
β€”Two excellent non-fiction books which influenced the writing of this novel were Flickan och skulden (Guilt and the Girl) by Katarina Wennstam, which deals among other things with sexual morals and double standards, and Porr – en bΓ€stsΓ€ljande historia (Porn – a Bestselling History) by Mattias Andersson, which is a detailed analysis of the Swedish sex industry.

Summer on the beautiful Swedish island of Γ–land. Visitors arrive in their thousands, ready to enjoy the calm and relaxation of this paradise.
Amongst them is Jonas Kloss, excited at the prospect of staying with his aunt, uncle and older cousins. But it is not as he had hoped. One night he takes a boat out onto the moonlit sea. A ship looms out of the darkness and the horror he finds on board is unimaginable.

Fleeing for his life, Jonas arrives at the door of an elderly islander, Gerlof Davidsson. Once Gerlof has heard his tale of dead sailors and axe-wielding madmen, he realizes that this will be a summer like none other Γ–land has ever seen.
For one man – the Homecomer – this is a very special journey. He seeks revenge that he’s waited a lifetime to exact
