โฆ Synopsis
If sticking is treated by the gettering-theory approach, calculations of the transition rates in both sticking and desorption are based on the theory of the decay of a prepared state. For sticking, T-matrix formulae for the rates follow from the simple quasiparticle pole structure of the initial-state Green function. For desorption, such a simple pole structure does not exist in general, but T-matrix expressions for desorption rates follow from the theory of sticking by virtue of the reciprocity symmetry of the timeevolution operator.
