β¦ Synopsis
A method is described by which ribosomal proteins L7L12 may be immunologically quantitated in the range of lo-75 pmol of protein. With this procedure the amount of ribosomal protein may be conveniently determined on the ribosome or in the postribosomal supernatant.

## Abstract Ribosomal proteins L~7~ and L~12~ are the only acidic proteins found on the 50S ribosomal subunit of __Escherichia coli__. The effect of ionic strength, helixβpromoting solvents and denaturating agents on the conformation of these proteins has been studied. It has been established that
Asymmetrical flow field-flow fractionation was and subunits due to the rather laborious experiments used for rapid (8-14 min) separation of ribosomes and and the experimental skill required (Birnbaum and their subunits. The amount of ribosomes and the mass Bailey, 1991). Moreover, artifacts occurrin
