Abstract
In order to fabricate thick SmCo~5~ film, the dependences of the magnetic properties of SmCo/Ru/Cu/Ru films and its multilayer films on the SmCo layer thickness were studied. The SmCo/Ru/Cu/Ru film with the SmCo layer thickness up to 200 nm showed the perpendicular magnetic anisotropy while the multilayer film with the total SmCo layer thickness of 1000 nm indicated the magnetic easy axis was in the perpendicular direction. It was found that the multilayered structure is preferable for the increase in total thickness of the SmCo layer with the perpendicular anisotropy. (Β© 2008 WILEYβVCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
