โœฆ Synopsis

Mohs surgery encompasses an extremely exciting concept. The conventional frozen section control obtained at most hospitals today is a sampling process that, at best, examines less than 0.1% (1/1000) of the surgical margin. In contrast, the techniques developed by Frederic Mohs in the late 1930s and reported by Baker and Swanson in this issue ("Complete Microscopic Controlled Surgery for Head and Neck Cancer") allow examination of 100% of the surgical margin.
