โฆ Synopsis
Iron-52 ( t l p = 8.27 h) is a useful radioisotope in nuclear medicine not only for its incorporation in iron base radiopharmaceuticals (1,2), but also as a nuclide generator for the myocardical imaging agent 52mMn (tip = 21.lm) (3,4).
Proton induced reactions for the production of positron emitting radionuclides, suitable for PET investigations, using proton beams in the region of 40-72 MeV are being investigated on part of the routine research and development at the Paul Scherrer Institute.
Various production routes for "Fe have been demonstrated and are summarized in Table 1.
