✦ Synopsis
Ab initio supermolecule calculations were performed for two Co, at different'c-C distances (d&.
The LUMO x-electron level splittings are an order of magnitude larger than those of the highest filled o levels. Both splittings, in good agreement with experiment, decrease and T, increases nearly linearly with u&. Assuming both electron-intramolecular vibrations and delocalized x-ekctron and localized (polarixable) o-electron interactions it is outlined how ab initio calculations can answer the main questions of superconductivity in Co,.
