โœฆ Synopsis

External mixing in isobaric analogue resonances is studied within the framework of Rmatrix theory in the many-channel case and the general behavior of the enhancement of the T<-states is discussed. The problem is also studied in the Kapur-Peierls formalism, which is found to be very convenient from a physical point of view, because it leads directly to a giant-resonance interpretation of the effects of external mixing. The distribution of the widths of the fine structure resonances is obtained and compared with the results of other formulations.
