The process operated efficiently for 12 cycles with almost constant chromic anhydride yields and separations of ferric and aluminium sulphates, alrhough the magnesium sulphate concentration in the liquors steadily increased.

From Fig. it can be seen that it is an advantage to recycle the acid, since with each successive cycle the effect of discarding filtered mother liquor on the quantity of sulphuric acid required per pound of chromic anhydride is reduced.
