โฆ Synopsis
ERTAIN olefinic halogenated compounds are of significance from the standpoint of preparative methods proposed for them and of their possible utility as intermediates in the synthesis of new types of physiologically active compounds. These halogenated compounds are the 4-substituted-l-halo-2butenes, which are satisfied by the general formula:
Q-CH~-CH=CH-CH2-Xl where Qis any substituent not necessarily hydrocarbonaceous. Those selected for preliminary study constitute a fairly uniform series of five in which the various values of Qare methyl-, cyclohexyl-, phenyl-, anaphthyl-and o-ethoxyphenyl-, and in which the halo-substituent is chloro-.
