✦ Synopsis
The preparation of 1"-propranolol hydrochloride from l-naphthol-I-14C is described. Several preparations of the compound have been carried out with overall radiochemical yields of 17 %-21 %. Specific activities of 3.51 pCilmg, 8.8 pCilmg, and 23.2 pCilmg have been obtained.
Propranolol has also been tritium labelled non speci3cally by catalytic exchange with tritiated acetic acid. After extensive puri-,fication pure material with a specific activity of 940 pCiJnzg was obtained.
