β¦ Synopsis
It is shown that a generalized expression of rate constant can be used for investigating processes characterized by saturation of the system (adsorption, impregnation, thermal setting, saponification, etc.). It offers a convenient means for the analysis of the combined effect of temperature and time on the state of the system. For impregnating yarns by a solution of a polymer, two expressions of a running value of a function used for a quantitative evaluation of the procedure have been obtained and experimentally tested. The expressions apply to the initial and final stages of the saturation process. The concept of a damping factor of the process is introduced.
