Thomas Stearns Eliot was born on September 26th 1888 in St Louis, Missouri. At age 25 he moved to England and became a British subject in 1927. He is regarded as one of the major poets of the 20th Century. His initial breakthrough was for 'The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock in 1916'. It is a masterpiece of Modernist Poetry and was followed by such exquisite pieces as 'The Waste Land', 'The Hollow Men', 'Ash Wednesday' and 'Four Quartets'. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1948. As a poet he produced relatively little though it was of exceptional quality. He wrote also a number of plays the most famous of which is 'Murder in the Cathedral'. TS Eliot was also a noted published who championed the work of many poets via his work at Faber & Faber. Here we publish much of his early poetry in a single volume of excellence.
