Two different beat length expressions for a spun linear ( ) birefringence SLB fiber are deri¨ed and compared with each other. It is found that the initial beat length expression presented earlier is reasonable and acceptable.

## Abstract The polarization mode dispersion (PMD) is a difficult phenomenon to compensate in the optical fiber. Its reduction can be achieved by the spinning process that provokes the rotation of the birefringence axes of the fiber inciting a coupling of its modes that is controlled at the time of

Weakly controlled resonance oscillations of a non-linear system are investigated. Small random perturbations results in a deviation of the frequencies from the resonance values. The aim of the control is to keep the frequencies in a small neighbourhood of the resonance surface. It is shown that smal
The second-order energy in Rayleigh-Schr6dinger single perturbation theory for a degenerate level with two perturbations is written in "double perturbation" form. The difficulties in formal double perturbation theory are avoided.
