โฆ Synopsis
Abstract
The main cause of a complaint of rapid pitting of aluminium porringers, used only for cooking oatmeal porridge containing salt, was found to be contamination of the water supply with copper. Contamination of aluminium vessels with copper through use of a metallic scourer containing copper can also give rise to severe pitting. The pitting was not serious in the absence of salt.
