✦ Synopsis
BOOK REVIEWS
high quality paper. Tables, diagrams, and black and white photographs are generally clear. Each chapter is immediately followed by its references, which makes researching a particular topic quite straightforward, and allows each chapter to stand alone. The book's main strengths are the lengthy presentations of examples, some based on reports that may not be readily available, and details of field and laboratory procedures. In her preface, Pearsall comments on the fact that palaeoethnobotany lies between the worlds of archaeology and botany. By writing this fine book, she has gone a long way towards drawing those worlds together. I have no doubt that it will rapidly become a standard reference.
