โœฆ Synopsis

With 4 figures

The purpose of the present paper is to summarize and supplement investigations of some photopic components of the human ERG which have already been described and discussed in three previous papers (HECK & RENDAHL 1957; RENDAHL 1958 a, b).

The human photopic ERG was recorded long ago but the small wavelets of this electrical mass response of the light-adapted retina were not described, by COBB & MORTON, until 1953. The latest reports in this field were published by YONEMURA et al. (1962) andJACOBSON et al. (1963).

This review has mainly been prompted by the great theoretical and clinical importance of the study of these components.

Utilizing a high intensity photographic flash unit, electroretinograms were recorded from normal adults under fully light adapted conditions over a 5 log unit range of stimulus luminance (-1.35 to 3.34 log cd-s/m2). At lower luminance levels b-wave amplitude increased with increased luminance until

The oscillatory potentials are viewed by many as small oscillations of a highfrequency domain that ride on the b-wave of the electroretinogram. A study of electroretinograms and oscillatory potentials performed in 25 normal subjects was undertaken to substantiate my claim that oscillatory potentials
