Abstract

In contrast to the thermal rearrangement, the photochemically induced methylenecyclopropane rearrangement of diethyl trans‐methylenecyclopropane‐2,3‐dicarboxylate (I) and of ethyl ethoxycarbonylcyclopropylideneacetate (syn or anti) produced diethyl cis‐methylenecyclopropane‐2,3‐dicarboxylate. A true photoequilibrium was not observed.
