✦ Synopsis
Briefly after the single Cu-0-layer-containing compound Bi,Sr,CuO,+, with variable Sr and Cu contents (the so called Raveau-phase or 2201 phase) was found to be superconducting with a critical temperature -10 K,I1] the two and three Cu-0 layer structures were s~nthesized.1~ - This homologous series of structures with increasing number of Cu-0 layers (as well as Ca-0 layers) is given by the formula Bi,Sr,Ca,_,Cu,O,,+,+, with n = 1, 2, 3. The transition temperature rises with increasing number of Cu-0 layers, i.e. T, = 80-90 K depending on the oxygen content
