Product Description
In 1984, the legendary Night Visions series was conceived by Dark Harvest Press as a showcase for the outstanding short fiction being produced by the best of the established authors and the most talented of the new writers in the fields of horror and dark fantasy.
In 2001, the series was resurrected by Subterranean Press with Night Visions 10 , featuring original novellas by Jack Ketchum and John Shirley, and five stories by David B. Silva.
Ketchum's contribution, ** The Passenger** , follows the story of a woman who gets a flat tire, leading to a stretch of bad luck as she becomes a passenger in a car bound for Hell.
Also appearing in Leisure Books editions of ** Red** , ** The Passenger** is, in Ketchum's own words: "a story about a woman stranded on the road looking for a ride, who coincidentally gets picked up by an old friend. Problem is, she is fucking nuts. Up the road a ways, a trio of rapist murderers are hitchhicking after getting into an accident during their escape. So in no time, what you have is our main character sitting in a car with a lunatic driver and three murderous rapists in the back seat. She's going to have one hell of a bad day."
A film version helmed by ** May** director Lucky McKee has been in the works for a number of years. In 2011 Ketchum and McKee collaborated for both the novel and film of ** The Woman** , a continuation of Ketchum's Dead River saga.
The recipient of four Bram Stoker awards, Jack Ketchum is the author of 15 novels and several short story collections. Stephen King has called him "quite simply, one of the best in the business." He lives in New York.
