โœฆ Synopsis

The parametric instability of a partially covered, symmetric, simply supported sandwich beam with viscoelastic covers and subjected to an axial pulsating load is studied. The effects of single as well as separate partial viscoelastic covers, cover ratio and location of covers on the static buckling loads are considered. The regions of parametric instability for various values of the system parameters are presented and the influence of such parameters on the stability of the system is studied.

The present work deals with the parametric instability of multi-layered symmetric sandwich beams with alternate elastic and viscoelastic layers, subjected to periodic axial load. The parametric instability of a beam under electromagnetic excitation was investigated experimentally and analytically. In experiment an electromagnetic device, acting like a spring with alternating sti!ness, was designed to parametrically excite the beam. The frequency and the amplitude of the exci

Beams partially embedded in a Winkler foundation can exhibit the phenomenon of modal clustering. In this paper, a conventional finite-element package is used in the comparison of the natural frequencies of such beams as calculated using a discretized finite-element model and as computed from a close
