The vibration-rotation bands (hieinel bands) of OH (\*Iii) have been observed in the chemiluminescent gas phase reaction of ozone with :xctaIdehydc at a total pressure of 3 torr at room temperature; a waker emission in the visible rcrion is tentatively identified as formaldehyde fluorcscencc.

โฆ Synopsis
The oxidation of tetrafluoroethylene by molecular oxygen, induced by small amounts of ozone, has been studied by a flow method both in the gas phase and in 1, 1, 2-trichlorotrifluoroethane at 15 ยฐ and atmospheric pressure. The reaction yields, besides the major volatile products (COF2 and CzF, O), a liquid product which has essentially a poly(oxyperfiuoromethylene) structure, (CF20),. The influence of the pressure of the reactants on the irregularities of this chain and on the relative formation rates of the products is discussed in terms of an addition--elimination mechanism, involving fission of most of the peroxidic and C--C bonds of the polymeric chain.
