I n 1960 F. HAHN proved an embedding theorem for compact extensions of flows. Here we present some analogous results for non-compact extensions. We get our best results for (non-compact) extensions of compact flows, and show that even with the compactness assumption the conclusion cannot be as stron

Gauges, or equivalently, left-invariant pseudodistances on the Heisenberg group, have been used for a long time. It was, however, only in 1978 that Cygan [3] noted that one of these natural gauges actually induces a distance, i.e., a left-invariant metric space structure on the group. Peter Greiner

We prove that an H-type group is weakly symmetric if and only if it is commutative. As a conseyuenct we get the classification of all weakly symmetric H-type groups.
