✦ Synopsis

A neutron imaging plate has been optimized by considering the elementary processes of neutron detection occurring in the NIP. It is composed of neutron converter materials, and photostimulated luminescence materials which create color centers. As a function of a molar ratio of these materials and the thickness of the NIP, the optimized NIP was defined and it has been proved by the measurement of the neutron diffraction experiment from a protein crystal. The most serious problem is the g-ray sensitivity of the NIP. The energy dependence of g-ray sensitivity has been measured and the way how to shield from the g-rays has been proposed.
