✦ Synopsis

It has been shown that the parameters in the log-normal (LN) and generalized exponential (Gex) distributions can be evaluated if molecular weight ratiosH and H,, or their equivalents, are known for a linear, unimodal homopolymer. It is suggested that better checks of observed and calculated values of M, can be obtained for such polymers as are characterized by m 5 0.15, by treating them as Gex rather than LN distributions.

We have analyzed fractionated samples of poly(methacry1ic acid) produced in a propagating front for the amount of anhydride that formed and determined that a large percentage of acid groups exist as anhydrides (>20%). By analyzing the samples after cleavage, we found that the molecular weight droppe

## Abstract The influence of incompatibility in the ternary systems gel–polymer–solvent and polymer–polymer–solvent on the results of gel permeation chromatography of the copolymer vinyl chloride–vinyl acetate was investigated. The measurements were performed on styrene–divinylbenzene gels and on p
