Several years ago, the National Science Foundation, a United States Government agency, began a program to provide for US researchers access to the world's most advanced computers. Five national computing centers have been established, and are serving over 6000 researchers from all parts of the country. Regular hardware and software improvements will keep these centers at the cutting edge of computer technology.
