✦ Synopsis

The condensation of pyridine-2,4,6-tricarboxtrisamidrazone 1 with 1,2-dicarbonyl compounds 2 -3 leads to trisubstituted 1,2,4-triazines 4 -6. These 1,2,4-triazines can be easily transformed to superbranched pyridines 7 -9 by [4+2] cycloaddition with norborna-2,5-diene followed by [4+2] cycloreversions of nitrogen and cyclopentadiene. This reaction sequence offers a new, simple and general access to superbranched oligopyridines.
