โœฆ Synopsis

The reaction of CO and NH, was performed over M/X (M=Rh, Ru, Pd; X=A1201, SiOz, TiO*) films. lnfrared spectroscopy was used to monitor the formation of surface intermediates. Isocyanate (NCO) was detected for all of the metals when the support was A1203 or SiO*, but not for TiOz. The NC0 resided on the A1203 support for all M/A120p catalysts, but on the metal when the support was SiOz. It was concluded that the formation and location ofthe NC0 was dependent upon the extent ofNH: formation on the various supports.
