Abstract
It is possible, and convenient, in an equatorial climate to use the melting point of diphenyl ether (26.6°C) as a thermocouple reference temperature which, under specified conditions, will be self‐maintaining in the open air to within ± 0.1°C for periods of about a fortnight, the ambient temperature range being ± 5°C.
