β¦ Synopsis
The nuclear index of refraction, the density of partons, their free path length and energy loss in the matter created in heavy-ion collisions at RHIC are estimated within the suggestion that the emission of Cherenkov gluons is responsible for the observed two-bump structure of the angular distribution of hadrons belonging to the companion (away-side) jet.

The properties of the high energy pions observed in heavy ion collisions, in particular in the system Au on Au at 1 GeV/nucleon are investigated. The reaction dynamics is described within the Quantum Molecular Dynamics (QMD) approach. It is shown that high energy pions freeze out early and originate
We employ a QMD transport model to study the influence of the isospin dependent part of the nuclear matter equation of state on the dynamics of heavy-ion collisions at intermediate energies. Parametrization of the in-medium dependence of the nucleon-nucleon elastic cross-sections, as predicted by mi
