โœฆ Synopsis

A BSTRA CT Energy intensity methods have been used in an investigation of bending vibration transmission at a T-junction of thin plates subjected to point excitation. The attenuation at the junction was estimated in a simulation of anechoic conditions where the plate edges are damped in order to produce nonreflective terminations. This was only partially successful and increased discrimination was obtained by use of impulse response methods and by spatial averaging.

Peaks in transmission loss between coplanar plates are indicated theoretically and experimentally, but there are discrepancies with respect to the angles at which these peaks occur. The increase in level difference with increased angle of incidence is seen for the case of transmission between plates at right angles.

The analysis of structure-borne sound transmission is obscured by the complicated nature of the dynamic interaction between source and receiver at each contact point. There is little measured data because of the practical difยฎculties in directly measuring forces and moments at the contacts. This is
