β¦ Synopsis
IN THIS FIVE-BOOK BOX SET:
BOOK 1: THE WICKENHAM MURDERS
The discovery of a skeleton in the tranquil village of Wickenham intrigues retired Detectiive Peter Marsh. Heβs convinced thereβs a connection between the skeleton and a murder case in 1929. The man accused was hanged for the crime seventy years ago. Georgia, his daughter, digs for clues, unearthing long-held grudges and tales of bitter betrayal. A long-hidden wartime secret is emerging. If Peter and Georgia donβt act quickly, the real murderer could get away . . . again.
BOOK 2: MURDER IN FRIDAY STREET
A young woman is murdered a number of years after a famous pop star died in the same place and in similar circumstances. Nobody in the tight-knit village is prepared to discuss either death. Except to say that the same haunting music was mysteriously played after each event. Music, they claim, that only plays when thereβs been a miscarriage of justice. Peter and Georgia must get the locals to talk, because unless they can solve these crimes the killer will still be free to murder again.
BOOK 3: MURDER IN HELLβS CORNER
Revered war hero Patrick Fairfax was murdered in the 1970s, but the case remains unsolved. Peter and Georgia chance upon his former squadron at a reunion where they sense that Patrick wasnβt as universally adored as his family think. Their investigation sets off a series of deadly events as the passions of today boil over to prevent the truth of the past from emerging.
BOOK 4: MURDER AND THE GOLDEN GOBLET
Lance Venyonβs boat was found drifting off the Kent coast in 1961 and a body washed up a year later. His wife never believed it was an accidental death. At a family wedding, Georgia sees a memorial plaque to Lance. Her interest takes her on a trail that will lead to 1950s art forgery and possibly murder. But someone is determined to keep the truth hidden. When another body is found, Peter and Georgia must find the answers before the killer strikes again.
BOOK 5: MURDER IN THE MIST
Peter and Georgia sense a sinister presence in an overgrown Kent garden. The body of poet Alwyn Field was discovered hanging there in 1949. He was part of the Fernbourne Five, a group of local bohemian artists whose legacy is closely guarded by the villagers. When a journalist is shot dead after asking too many probing questions, Peter and Georgia wonder how far someone will go to protect the groupβs legacy. Can they keep themselves safe from the murderer?
MEET THE SLEUTHS
Father and daughter Peter and Georgia Marsh are amateur sleuths with an instinctive approach to their cases β they believe an unsolved crime leaves a stamp on time in the place where it occurred. All of their cold cases are material for their popular Marsh & Daughter books.
A former Detective Inspector, Peter was forced to retire after a bungled raid left him paralysed. His daughter Georgia is Peterβs βeyes on the groundβ, travelling through the Kent countryside looking into unsolved cases of the past.
But really, the cases fill the void of the missing person case they can never solve: the unexplained disappearance of their son and brother, Rick, in the French mountains...M.F
