He could do no more, for we have neither the biological knowledge nor the statistical information which would justify us in assuming an unchallengeable attitude towards this problem. Block dissection, interesting to note, he does under local anresthesia, takes thirty-five minutes over it, and regales the patients with a cup of coffee at its completion. This is indeed a very useful work of reference, and deserves a place in the library of every general surgeon. It is well indexed and well illustrated.
