The WXe "blue triplet" spectrum (730-790 nm) arises from K atoms in three distinct sites. Each site gives rise to a similar 'S-+\*P triplet pattern. The effective excited state spin-orbit coupling constant is -170 cm-' compared to the values -213 and -196 cm-' for NaIXe and Li/Xe respectively.
I'reswrc of ==7 kbar apphcd to single crystals of pdramagnctic I-cClz -4Hz0 at 4.2 K and 40 kOe reduces the cffcctwc magnetic field Hcff at the Fe nucleus from 229.5 f 1 to 223.5 f 1 kOe. A decrcasc of the hgand field splitting with prcssure is indlcatcd.
