✦ Synopsis
The enhanced excimer ('MC) fluorescence from a liquid alkyl benzene under high-intensity ionizing irradiation originates from dimer cation (2Mi) neutralization, associated with ionization quenching of excited molecules and depIetion of unexcited molecuIes. Other emission bands may be due to triplet extimers (3FJ*,) and excited singlet excimers (IMy), the latter corresponding to the IBzg benzene excimer state.
