✦ Synopsis

The low-rempclolure (4.2 K) crysrzl spectrum of 2,4-hexadiyne-1,6dioi has been examined under moderate resolution in the quartz UV. The low-energy (300.-260 nm) diffuse absorplion has been lentatively assigned as 'A, t 'Ag in Czh. The higher-energy (260-230 nm) structured absorption has been assisncd a5 a *B, + 'A"+ * ZZz tT~nsition in D ' A, transition and correlates with the a _h. The en&on splitting for this second transition is less &an 25 cm-'.
